What age group do you primarily work with?

I currently work with the 4 - 5 year olds in our Yellow Room.

 

How long have you worked in the Child Care field?

I have worked in this field for 22 years.

 

How long have you been with Ms. Bev's Place?

I have been with Ms. Bev's Place since it opened  in 2006.  Prior to 2006 I worked for the previous owner of the center which operated under the name of Little Beavers Day Care Center.   

 

What is your philosophy on the education of children in your classroom?

I believe that it is important for children to have a structured learning environment in order to prepare them for the world ahead while also providing them the freedome to explore their interests, learn, and grow.  I also believe that it's important to always let children know they are special and that they can do anything they set their mind to.  "Can't" is a word that I discourage the use of in my classroom because you never know what you can do until you try.

 

What are your goals for the children in your class?

My goal for your child is to prepare them for the kindergarten challenges that lay ahead.  All children learn in different ways and I utilize a number of teaching methods to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a style that suits them.  In my class, we work on letter sounds, letter recognition, counting, number recognition, writing skills, word recognition, motor skills, manners, and using our words to express our feelings.  It is my goal that through all of these things, I will help to prepare your child for their journey ahead.

 

What do you look forward to about coming to work every day?

I look forward to interacting with your children while having the opportunity to watch them grow and change on a daily basis.  Each day, children are constantly learning more than they did the day before.  It's amazing to see how quickly they progress.  They always give me a reason to smile, laugh, and love.

 

If someone asked you why the should choose Ms. Bev's Place, what would you tell them?

Ms. Bev's Place is a center where children get the love, care, and attention that helps them to feel like they're at home.  We are a family here and that is evident from the moment you walk in our door.  We have an educative and fun learning program that keeps your child engaged everyday.  Our playground is awesome and it gives the children the space to truly play!
